In the same way wild geese always return every year to their place of birth, the Irish soldiers and refugees – who in 1691 were forced to set sail on ships for other lands – took the name The Wild Geese® in the hope and belief that their exile from Ireland would be brief. Sadly, this wasn’t to be….

During their years of exile, there was not a continent or country where The Wild Geese and their descendants did not make a historically important contribution. Their exploits echo through history and the generations that followed.

This is a story made by heroes; written into the history of the Irish and into the countries that gave them sanctuary. The Wild Geese did not just pass through history; they made history. Through oppression and famine, they created a beautiful dream.
